The Valley of Amatitán flanks the Tequila Volcano, a region believed by many to be the birthplace of Mexico’s favourite beverage. Located in the Low Lands of Central Jalisco, the earth here offers the ideal conditions for the optimal growth of the blue agave. It is a terrain that nurtures their slow development, as these plants can take up to ten years to reach full maturity.
Like any source of premium quality spirits, the constitution of the agave lineage is key. To release their full potential, the agaves must be harvested only when they have found the perfect balance between size and sugar content. Excelencia Tequilera de Jalisco believes that to ensure quality, one must watch over them personally. That is why we grow our own agaves, in our own lands, by people who have cared for them generation after generation.
