Excelencia Tequilera de Jalisco was built on the foundations of a long tradition. It is the story of one of the most prestigious families in the tequila business. Our lineage dates back to 1870, when the siblings Don Ambrosio and Doña Carmen Rosales founded a small distillery in the town of Amatitan, Jalisco. With time their business grew and became one of the biggest tequila distilleries in the world.
Our Family has played a vital role in many of the changes that have shaped the industry in the last century. It was Luz Gabriela de la Peña Rosales, together with her husband José Guillermo Romo Celis, who pushed for the Protected Designation of Origin of Tequila (D.O.T) in the nineteen-seventies. They where also responsible for introducing the first reposado (aged) tequila to the market.
Now into its fifth generation, the Romo de la Peña family have created Excelencia Tequilera de Jalisco with the mision of continuing tequila production with the same care and passion as Don Ambrosio and Doña Carmen Rosales did over a hundred years ago.
